The Riddler and The Penguin Charged with Conspiracy and Kidnapping (Or, Even U.S. Attorneys’ Offices Have a Sense of Humor)

It’s the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so I’m taking a break from serious white collar prosecutions.

The “Batkid” story has been all over the internet the last few weeks. It’s an amazing, heartwarming story about how thousands of people in San Francisco joined together to make the dreams of Miles Scott, a 5-year old cancer survivor, come true.

In case you missed it, Miles wanted to be a superhero, Batman to be specific. He’s currently in remission from leukemia, which was diagnosed when he was just 18 months old. The Make-A-Wish Foundation put together a dream day for him to become a superhero and save San Francisco from the bad guys.

Here’s a quick video summarizing his day. After saving “Gotham” out west, Batkid headed east to New York to save the rapper Pitbull from the Joker.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Francisco issued a great press release, noting that the AUSAs were drawing straws to see who would get to prosecute the case.  There is also an “indictment” against both villains.

Congratulations to Batkid and the government to bring down these dangerous criminals to keep Gotham safe.

Of course, as stated in the press release:

[A] indictment contains only allegations against a person and, as with all defendants, Edward “E.” Nigma, aka, “The Riddler,” and Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, aka, “The Penguin” must be presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Love it. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. I’ll be back next week with more serious fare.
